U.S Plane-Helicopter Collision| Army Confirms Capt. Rebecca Lobach Was Flying Black Hawk Helicopter

The U.S. Army has identified Capt.

Rebecca M.

Lobach, 32, of Durham, North Carolina, as the pilot of the Black Hawk helicopter that collided mid-air with an American Airlines flight, killing 67 people in one of the deadliest air disasters in decades.

Lobach, assigned to the 12th Aviation Battalion at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, had served since July 2019 and was a highly skilled pilot with over 450 flight hours.

She had earned several commendations, including the Army Commendation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

She was also a top 20% ROTC graduate and had previously served as a White House social aide under President Biden.
